Wolfram
Drama
Two child labourers in Wolfram mines run away into an unforgiving central Australian landscape in a social drama centred on First Nations people, depicting colonial injustice in the 1930s.
"Wolfram" is drawn from real stories of harsh times with few laws. The landscape is unrelentingly flyblown and burned by a strident sun. The characters are just as severe; they need to be to survive. The plot is scant, with the story told by the conditions which demand certain survival behaviours. The actors fully inhabit their roles, conveying the plight of the inhabitants of the time. The cinematography is even more memorable, showcasing the breathtaking beauty of the land and skies thanks to the talented director - the impact of his work is indelible. The primary ore of tungsten.
