MIFF: The Legend of Ochi
Fantasy Adventure Family
Uri finds a young Ochi in one of her father’s traps and sets about hiding it from her brother while it heals, gradually learning to communicate with song.
The movie is set on a remote fantasy island where local villagers hunt and fear the beasts that roam the wilds. With the feel of a traditional folkloric tale, "The Legend of the Ochi" is a wholly original film aimed at adolescents. The production is visually enchanting - paced with a sense of adventure, while the screen action inspires awe, particularly as the plot isn't strictly predictable. The soundtrack is a delight, featuring the otherworldly orchestral singing of the mysterious creatures at the centre of the story. Hums with heart.
