Monsieur Aznavour

A biopic of the late and great French singer, from his humble beginnings as the son of Armenian refugees to international renown as a singer and songwriter.

The protagonist enjoyed a long life, a stellar career, and three marriages - there's a lot of life to fill a couple of movie hours. The story is related sequentially in chapters; structurally, it's easy to follow and brims with the nostalgia of a bygone era, including furs, buttoned-down collars and showy cars. There's a lot of heart in the telling of the tale, and his escapades are for the most part tinged with a success that comes from hard work. There are many interesting characters from the period and the moral, if there is one, is that a good measure of talent and effort will deliver fame. Dance in the old-fashioned way.
