Horror writer Ohm Bauman travels to a dilapidated hotel in Ireland where his parents honeymooned. He wants to scatter their ashes and finish a book he's been working on.

Ominous characters and hidden secrets create a horror story in the present while also drawing on folklore and past mysteries. All the classic haunted house elements are put to work to create a scary film with enough of the unexpected to have you involuntarily levitating, wide-eyed, from your cinema seat. The timing and pacing are well judged to move in and out of tense moments. Thanks to skilful cinematography, the production is shadowy before showy as horror elements swirl to create "Hokum", and while you want to dismiss emerging mysteries as bunkum, there is something inexplicable happening.
