From Hilde with Love

Berlin 1942, and Hilde is drawn into a Nazi resistance group by a man she subsequently marries.

Hilde with Love is an idealistic romance about a couple united by political beliefs and acting against the nation's ruling party, where the tumult of the time is drawn from records of one woman's life and depicted from her point of view. The setting is wartime but far from the war, as the story moves between time as students too young to be drafted, to an idyllic summer, to eventually being arrested and tried for treason. The movie packs emotional heft thanks to a balance between idealism and dictatorial nationalism and is presented with gravitas affecting as it is gruelling.
